Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware is another piece of software in the ever-expanding Malwarebytes suite of computer security programs. This particular installation prevents 'ransomware' from encrypting your computer's files and forcing you to pay money to access them. Some ransomware won't even return your files to you, making it dangerous... and this software useful.
Furious, But Not Entirely Fast
Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware works by heuristic analysis. This means that it monitors everything happening on a computer, compiling evidence based on what different programs are doing and what's occurring. Once it has 'reason' to believe that a program is dangerous, it shuts down ransomware activity before your data can be encrypted. This is the only effective way to deal with ransomware right now, and MBAR does it well. This does come at the cost of some speed, however: running the program on certain older machines may cause the things you do to become slower. For tasks like playing the latest and greatest games, you might consider shutting down any other tasks, and then turning off MBAR for a little while.
It'S Super Effective
Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware does what it says, though: it nips ransomware in the bud. Few solutions are as clean and effective as MBAR's heuristic analysis, and most modern machines should be able to run it swimmingly. And as with other Malwarebytes programs, it will probably become even better with time.
